Richmondville- William J. Crawford, Jr., 85, of Brooker Hollow Rd., died Monday, May 27, 2013 at his home.

Born August 23, 1927 in Whitinsville, MA, he was the son of William J. and Annie (Tate) Crawford, Sr.
William was a resident of Massachusetts for most of his life until moving to Sprakers and operating his own dairy farm in 1972. Upon retirement, he and his wife moved to Richmondville in 2005.

William was a Unites States Navy veteran serving during World War II, from 1945 until receiving an honorable discharge in 1954. He was a member of the Amsterdam American Legion.

He will be most notably remembered as a family man.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy (Gardner) Crawford, whom he married June 28, 1947; six children: Nancy B. Crawford and Carol A. Crawford, both of Richmondville, Betsy G. Crawford and Sally G. Crawford, both of Charlton, NY, William J. Crawford, III of Winter Port, ME, and James R. Crawford of Livonia, NY; two granddaughters: Emily and Madelyn Crawford; and his sister: Marjorie Plummer of Gorham, ME.

Private services and calling hours will be held at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill. Private burial with military honors will be in Old Stone Fort Cemetery, Schoharie.
