Middleburgh- Nancy M. Sherman, 72, born September 21, 1940 in Catskill, NY, died peacefully in her sleep on March 9, 2013.

Nancy was known as "Nan" or "NaNa" in the community. She graduated from Catskill High School in 1958 and went on to receive a degree nursing at Columbia-Memorial School of Nursing in 1961. She was a registered nurse for 52 years where she touched many lives of others and loved every minute of it. Throughout her life, she worked at Schoharie County Public Health and Eden Park Nursing Home in Cobleskill.

She was a friend of the Schoharie Presbyterian Church, member of the Schoharie County Senior Council, and Central Bridge Seniors. After retiring, she spent most of her time with her best friend, Ellen Richtner of Middleburgh, who she adored very much as well as spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

If Nancy was not seen with Ellen it was with her family, especially her granddaughter Kaitlyn Sherman who she adored and they were also best friends that did everything together if it was scratching lottery tickets, hitting golf balls, shopping, or going to lunch, they were always together. Nancy was an avid Law & Order fan.

She is predeceased by her father, Lawrence Ostrander in 1995 and her beloved husband, Allard Richard Sherman in 2005.

Survivors include her children: Lawrence (Debra) Sherman, Scott Sherman, and Heather Sherman, all of Middleburgh; mother: Alice Ostrander of Howes Cave; sister: Alice Irene Sutch; brother-in-law: Gerald Sutch of Prattsville; sister-in-law: Karen (Rudy) Pratt of Germantown; grandchildren: Christopher, Ryan, Kaitlyn, and Sean Sherman of Middleburgh, Sarah Belden of Cobleskill, Cody, Calob, and Connor Ganson of Middleburgh; two great-grandchildren: Peyton Elizabeth and Ella Grace Sherman; nephews: Joel (Deborah) Sutch of Prattsville, Donald and Justin Eaton of Germantown; great-nieces and nephews: Melissa Keys, Gerald II, Joelene, and Naomi Sutch all of Prattsville, Alyssa, Kylie, and Robert Eaton from Germantown.

Nancy was a loving, caring woman, who will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held at the funeral home prior to the service on Wednesday from 5 to 6 PM.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Food Pantry, care of Middleburgh Reformed Church, PO Box 112, Middleburgh, NY 12122.
