Richmondville- Edward C. Bartos, 66, of Brooker Hollow Rd., died Thursday, January 9, 2014, at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown.

Born May 8, 1947 in Fountain Springs, PA, he was the son of Edward R. and Sarah F. (Rokocy) Bartos.

Ed received his bachelor's degree from Bloomsburg State College in Pennsylvania and continued his graduate studies at SUCO. In 1991 he retired from Cobleskill Central School where he taught 7th grade biology. Following retirement he continued his passion as an antique dealer, buying and selling, and of course keeping those items that he liked best. One of his favorites was old bottles.

In his younger years, Ed enjoyed hunting and fishing, particularly trout. In the 1970's he was the modified football coach, and found much pleasure in the children as well as the sport, especially carrying an undefeated record. Ed also had a strong interest in local history.

One of his true joys in his later years, were his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Teri (Miller) Bartos, whom he married August 12, 1972; his three children: Denise Bartos of Virginia Beach, VA, Jeremy (Audra) Bartos of San Marco, CA, and Ed (Heather) Bartos of Fort Edward and their children: Will and Sierra Bartos. Another grandchild is expected in July. Also surviving are his three siblings: Dan Bartos of Lewistown, PA, Dianne (Brad) Corkem of Murrells Inlet, SC, and Steve (Meg) Bartos of Mount Carmel, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, January 19, 2014 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 138 Washington Ave., Cobleskill with Rev. Ray Richards of Calvary Assembly of God officiating. A reception with fellowship will immediately follow in the church hall.

Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Assembly of God Building Fund, PO Box 145, Cobleskill, NY 12043.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill and Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home of Middleburgh.
