Colonie- Doris W. Vrooman, 92, of Myers Court, formerly of North Blenheim, NY in Schoharie County, died Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Memorial Hospital in Albany after a brief illness.

She was born January 23, 1921 at home in Blenheim, NY and was the daughter of Walter H. and Mollie D. (Mattice) Vrooman. She was predeceased by her parents and brother Otto.

Doris was a graduate of Gilboa-Conesville Central Rural School and Albany Business College. She was interested in genealogy, loved dogs, being outdoors and loved to eat.

She was a direct descendant of Adam Vrooman, and an active member of the Vromans Nose Preservation Corporation, as well as assisted in the editing of the 1999 Schoharie County Historical Society's booklet on Schoharie County Cemeteries.

Survivors include her second cousin: Anne (Christian) Strauch of North Blenheim and their children: Jacob, Burton, and Daniel Strauch; and cousin-in-law: Ruth Mattice of North Blenheim.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, November 11, 2013 at Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River Street, Middleburgh, NY with Rev. Frank Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery on the Vrooman Family Lot. A reception will follow immediately at the Blenheim Town Hall.
